Serenity Now

I had all three kids by myself from 4:30 until 9:45 tonight for Angie to go to a local women's club meeting where she attempted to sell the rest of her and Amanda's stuff they've made.

I have NO clue how she does this everyday by herself, 5 days a week: I changed 4 dirty diapers (all Trots), threatened to send Rakes to Military School at least 6 times, and promised myself I'd start Home Schooling Ciera within the next 2 years.

Mind you, this was ALL within a 5 hour window with a 30 minute dinner break included: I need a shrink, a drink, and possibly a lobotomy to recover, and not necessarily in that order.

Highlight of the night? Rakes and I playing "Star Wars Lego" on the PS2 while Trot tried to turn himself into a mummy with the chord from the remote: good times, good times. Throw in me not having a CLUE how to help Ciera with her 4th grade homework, Trot wanting to climb into the kitchen sink every 2 minutes, and some telemarketer trying to sell me a time share in Orlando and you've got the recipe for a mental breakdown looking for a place to happen.

Before I finish, I need to send out a prayer for Matties little girl, Caroline, who is in a Raleigh, NC hospital tonight with pneumonia: be well soon, Baby C.

Also, to my sisters Sonya and Sheri in Oklahoma City, who have been without power since early yesterday due to the ice storm of biblical proportions that hit that part of the country on Sunday. PV's for you as well.

I'm guessing you don't want to hear it was almost 80 degrees here today and I currently have the A/C running?

PVs to your niece, Ted.
From your post the other day: yep, that's Kiana on my blog, taken a couple of years ago at a winery in VA. She's my great-niece.

Are you sure you're going to make it to Christmas?:)

Tex, I'll pass the word to Matt. Although you "turning out OK" is open for debate.

I'll still be blogging when they are all 18, Tex. Just not real sure if it'll be coherent. Of course, it's not really that NOW is it?

Do you need some computer guru help? ;)

Thanks, John. And Kiana is beautiful.

I'm pretty sure I'll make it: just don't want you to change your mind about coming to visit. If I promise to "medicate" them, will that help your decision?

Well, that's just plain weird: Horshams post went up twice.

Tex: what did you do to my blog?

HorshamScouse said...

Blogger's performing like Haloscan:(

No need to medicate the kids on my account. I was planning my route the other day: your place isn't on MS Streets and Trips yet but it is on Google Earth and I have my Navman loaded with US maps so I'm good to go.

Just get the weather sorted for Christmas week:)

Horsham, I live in pretty new subdavision and it's not on a lot of mapquestesqe sites. If you need to, check your email: I'm sending you my cell phone number just in case.

i leave to do something on my blog and I get blamed for stuff on your blog??? Im feeling like Rakes now

Ted D said...

Tex, I just figured whatever happened to Horsham's quote I could blame on you.

Since Rakes has been asleep for a few hours, you were the next logical choice. :)

Tex said...

fine. im in the category of a four year old.

Ted D said...

Of course you are.

I'm still back with Trot, if it makes you feel any better. ;)

Tex said...

well dont tell my employees. i got them all fooled thinking iz smarter than them. you got mail btw.

Ted D said...

Tex, if you see this, sorry I didn't respond. I hit the hay early last night.

Ahem. Is there something *wrong* with Orlando??

Thoughts & prayers for sick babies & frozen sisters.

Ted D said...

Dawn,

There is NOTHING wrong with Orlando! It just happened to be where this particular pain in the rear was calling from.

Talked to Matt this morning, and they are still in the hospital, but her oxygen count is up, which is good. Looks like at least another day and possibly tonight before they let her go home.

Sisters are still out of power, but hopefully it gets back on today.

~**Dawn**~ said...

yeah, I was just taking the opportunity to give you a hard time. ;-) Since you were already teetering on the edge & all.

Ted D said...

So you just decided to go ahead and push me completely over the edge, huh?

Thanks, friend. ;)

~**Dawn**~ said...

Sorry, I am feeling a little feisty this morning. =P

Ted D said...

No need to apologize: it's people like you and Tex that keep me humble. :P

~**Dawn**~ said...

Errr... Thanks? LOL! The key is being able to take in return what you dish out. I know I can, so I feel free to dish out. =P

Ted D said...

Dawn, it was meant as a compliment! I need to be taken down a few notches every now and then.

As far as dishing it out goes: I'm pretty sure nobody in my family has EVER left a comment here that wasn't an insult in some loving way! You, however, are too nice for me to blast on.

Yet. ;)

~**Dawn**~ said...

Thanks for thinking so, Ted, but you obviously have much to learn. ;-)

Oh & you wanna see "not nice Dawn"? Just act like that woman who sat next to me on my last flight back from CA. =P

Ted, I am happy to Ciera that you are planning to homeschool her. You will be so glad you invested the time with her. She'll be out on her own in a blink of an eye or so it will seem that way.

I didn't realize baby C was in the hospital Please let Amanada and Mattie know I am praying for them.

You are a good husband to help Angie out and I know she appreciates you.

Ted D said...

//but you obviously have much to learn.//

You're preaching to the choir, sister. As for your flight, that just proves you ARE nice. I would have beaten her about the head with the barf bag and you resisted. See?

Edge, I can't do 4TH GRADE HOMEWORK: I home school her, she'll be just a shade smarter than a tree stump. I'll let Matt know you are thinking about them when I talk to him next.

~**Dawn**~ said...

Keep in mind that it was something like 3am & I had had a couple glasses of wine. ;-) I was, shall we say, sedate.

//she'll be just a shade smarter than a tree stump//
OMG I almost spit out a mouthful of water right here in the office. You have such a gift with words.

Ted D said...

Even with the late hour and the wine, the fact you kept it together is impressive.

Glad I made you laugh: I don't know about a gift. Angie refers to it as obnoxiousness.

~**Dawn**~ said...

I was too sedated to really get mad. I am a light weight, so two glasses of wine has the effect of a whole bottle on most people. That was the plan. ;-)

No no no. I work with Captain Obnoxious. You are just funny. Trust me.

Ted D said...

I'm planning a trip to Boston for hopefully in May and the flight I would take leaves at 5:45 a.m. Mind you, I haven't flown in 10 years due to the fact I'm a wuss.

That said, I'm not sure I should be drinking that early in the morning.

And I'll take your word on the funny/obnoxious thing.

And if you want me too, I can have Captain Obnoxious' kneecaps busted for you. I'm just sayin'.

~**Dawn**~ said...

You'll be back on the ground before you know it. I've flown so much in the last couple of years, I am actually more scared when I'm driving than flying. I almost always fly United & they have a station you can listen to on your headset that is all the communications between the pilots & the air traffic controllers. It really puts my mind at ease.

I may just take you up on that kneecap offer...

Tex said...

humble wasnt what i was going for

Ted D said...

Dawn, the logical part of my mind (such as it is) tells me that I'm safer flying than driving. It's the wussified part that scares me. However, a chance to go to Boston for the FIRST time and go to Fenway? I'll deal with it.

I know, Tex. You are trying to shatter me. ;) I prefer to think of it as humbling me.

~**Dawn**~ said...

Going to Boston is so worth it. I could listen to that accent all day long...

Ted D said...

"Wicked Hahd"

Dawn, I read in your comment section where you met the girl from MA at the WDW parade you went to.

I'm with you: it's great to listen to. Especially a guy like me from the south who married a woman who can pronounce Ted in three syllables: "Tehad".

~**Dawn**~ said...

That misplaced R is a thing of utter (uttah?) beauty. And the propah use if the word 'wicked' is like music. Says the transplanted New Englandah in the land where people say things like "I'm fine as frog's hair split four ways."

Ted D said...

That Schilling Dunkin Donuts commercial he did after signing with Boston is an all time classic:

"Gonna pitch wicked hahd at the pahk".

Tex said...

Teaaaaahhhhheeeeeddd

when are you planning on going to fenway?

JMP said...

Ted,
I remember that Drunkin' Donuts commercial with Schill. It was so frackin funny! Its on the web someplace...

JMP said...

Found it!!!
